September 2, 2021 Opinion or Order ORDER entered by David J. Barron, Appellate Judge. Petitioner-appellant Jeffrey A. Cookson requests appointment of counsel to assist him in pursuing this appeal from the district court's denial of his petition to vacate his conviction under 28 U.S.C. 2254. "[P]etitioners have no constitutional right to counsel in [habeas corpus] proceedings." Bucci v. United States , 662 F.3d 18, 34 (1st Cir. 2011). After careful review of Cookson's motion, July 25, 2021, letter, August 3, 2021, filing, and of the district court record, we are not persuaded that "the interests of justice" favor appointment of counsel. See 18 U.S.C. 3006A(a)(2)(B). Accordingly, the motion is denied . Cookson may inform this court in writing if he wishes to rely on one or more filings in the district court, with or without supplementation, as his memorandum requesting issuance of a certificate of appealability. We note that Cookson has been given a deadline of October 12, 2021, to file a memorandum requesting issuance of a certificate of appealability. [21-1514] (GB) [Entered: 09/02/2021 08:44 PM]
