MEMORANDUM Opinion and Order; Plaintiff Joyce Nelson ("Nelson") filed a three-count First Amended Complaint 35 , alleging retaliation for exercising her First Amendment free speech rights, breach of contract against the Country Club Hills District 160 Board of Education ("Board"), and defamation per se against Superintendent Sandra Thomas ("Thomas"). Defendants filed a motion for summary judgment on all counts 83 . Nelson filed a cross-motion for partial summary judgment on Counts II for breach of contract and III for defamation 85 . For the reasons stated herein, the Court grants summary judgment in favor of defendants and denies plaintiff's summary judgment. Jury trial set to 4/23/2018 is hereby stricken. Civil case terminated.
