Filing 14 MINUTE entry before the Honorable M. David Weisman: This case has been referred to Magistrate Judge Weisman to conduct a settlement conference and discuss general issues related to settlement. Status hearing set for 12/3/19 at 9:15 a.m. Prior to the status hearing, the Court respectfully requests that counsel consult the Court's standing order on settlement conferences and related materials in advance of the status hearing. Judge Weisman generally conducts settlement conferences Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at either 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Other dates and times may be available as required by the Court or the parties. Filing 12 MINUTE entry before the Honorable Edmond E. Chang: Status hearing held. The parties agreed to a settlement referral to the magistrate judge. The circumstances are ripe for a conference: the EEOC investigation did involve information exchange, Plaintiff is employed elsewhere at a roughly comparable salary, and the allegations in the complaint are resistant to a quick disposition. So in order to avoid the certain expense of discovery and motion practice, it is best to devote resources to resolving the case. In light of the referral, MID disclosures and discovery are stayed. But the magistrate judge may order whatever discovery is necessary for a productive conference. Status hearing set for 01/09/2020 at 9 a.m.Emailed notice (slb, ) |
