MINUTE entry before the Honorable Edmond E. Chang: On review of the status report, R. 12, and the defense motion #13 to stay, the following schedule is set. First, if the Plaintiff is going to file a motion for remand, then it shall be filed by 05/05/2021. On the propriety of amending notices of removal, the Court refers the parties to Samori v. Ralphs Grocery Co., No. 1:20-CV-02001, 2021 WL 1212798, at *3 (N.D. Ill. Mar. 31, 2021). The Defendant's response to the remand motion (if filed) is due by 05/19/2021. The Plaintiff's reply is due by 06/02/2021. On the defense motion to stay, R. 13, the Plaintiff's response is due by 05/05/2021. The Defendant's reply is due by 05/19/2021. In the meantime, the case is stayed during the pendency of the stay motion and the anticipated motion to remand. The tracking status hearing of 04/16/2021 is reset to 05/14/2021 at 8:30 a.m., but to track the case only (no appearance is required, the case will not be called). Emailed notice (mw, )

MINUTE entry before the Honorable Edmond E. Chang: Given that this is the first request, the defense's extension motion to answer #8 is granted to 04/02/2021. To track the case only (no appearance is required, the case will not be called), an initial status hearing is set for 04/16/2021 at 8:30 a.m. Instead of convening the hearing, the parties shall file a joint discovery status report by 04/08/2021. The Court will set the case schedule after reviewing the written status report. Plaintiff must still file the report even if Defendant has not responded to requests to craft a joint report. If not all Defendants have been served, then Plaintiff must complete the part of the report on the progress of service. Also, counsel (or the parties, if proceeding pro se) must carefully review Judge Chang's Case Management Procedures, available online at ilnd.uscourts.gov (navigate to Judges / District Judges / Judge Edmond E. Chang).
