This Court determined, on preliminary review, that the proposed amicus brief could provide the Court will a broader view of the impact of the issues raised in this case. That is an appropriate basis to allow amicus participation. See, e.g., Voices for Choices v. Illinois Bell Tel. Co., 339 F.3d 542, 545 (7th Cir. 2003) (an amicus brief is appropriately permitted if it "will assist the judges by presenting ideas, arguments, theories, insights, facts, or data that are not to be found in the parties' briefs."). As the Seventh Circuit noted, the criterion "is more likely to be satisfied in a case... in which the would-be amicus has a direct interest in another case that may be materially affected by a decision in this case; or in which the amicus has a unique perspective or specific information that can assist the court beyond what the parties can provide." MINUTE entry before the Honorable John Robert Blakey: This case has been assigned to the calendar of the Honorable John Robert Blakey.
