February 23, 2023 Filing 5 MINUTE entry before the Honorable Iain D. Johnston: In its notice of removal, the defendant alleges that the plaintiff's claims fall under the court's diversity jurisdiction, but the notice does not adequately identify the plaintiff's citizenship. Specifically, it does not identify each member of the plaintiff LLC, but rather refers to the allegation in the state court complaint that the plaintiff "is an Illinois limited liability company with its principal place of business in Oregon, Illinois." By 3/7/2023 the defendant shall file a jurisdictional statement that identifies each member of the plaintiff LLC, and the citizenship of each member. If a member is itself an LLC, the defendant must continue to drill down identifying the members and citizenship of each LLC. See Thomas v. Guardsmark, LLC, 487 F.3d 531, 534 (7th Cir. 2008) ("Consequently, an LLC's jurisdictional statement must identify the citizenship of each of its members as of the date the complaint or notice of removal was filed, and, if those members have members, the citizenship of those members as well.").
