ORDER regarding Defendant's Unopposed Motion for Leave to File an Answer to Plaintiff's Complaint and a Counterclaim/Third-Party Complaint. (Doc. 12). Defendant, which was served with process on November 18, 2024, removed this case from the First Judicial Circuit Court of Union County, Illinois, on November 26, 2024. (Doc. 1). Under Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 81(c)(2), "[a] defendant who did not answer before removal must answer or present other defenses or objections under these rules within the longest of these periods: (A) 21 days after receiving--through service or otherwise--a copy of the initial pleading stating the claim for relief; (B) 21 days after being served with the summons for an initial pleading on file at the time of service; or (C) 7 days after the notice of removal is filed." Fed. R. Civ. P. 81(c)(2). However, the Unopposed Motion notes Plaintiff does not object to Defendant's request. Accordingly, the Unopposed Motion is GRANTED. Defendant is DIRECTED to immediately file its Answer to Plaintiff's Complaint and Counterclaim/Third-Party Complaint on the docket. See L.R. 15.1(a)(3) (eff. Oct. 30, 2023) ("Should the Court grant leave to file the document, it is the requesting party's responsibility to file the document as a separate docket entry for it to be considered a part of the record and given full effect, within whatever timeframe the Court deems appropriate.
