| Filing 7 Electronic Clerk's Notes for proceedings held before District Judge Leo T. Sorokin: Status Conference held on 1/6/2022. The court hears counsel on the status of the 28 cases filed in this district against Covidien regarding Hernia Mesh Devices, the universe of cases anticipated and related in other districts and whether the case will be an MDL. Counsel anticipates an additional 100 cases filed in this district and approx. 10-12 scattered in other districts that would be related. Approx. 2000 cases are currently proceeding in State Court against Covidien. Counsel may seek again to have the case designated as an MDL. Defense counsel indicates he intends to file a motion to dismiss. The court discusses coordinating the cases with respect to discovery and motions to dismiss and discusses coordinating the schedules alongside the presiding judge in State court. The court sets a status conference for 2/28/22 at 3:00PM via zoom. This hearing will be conducted by video conference. Counsel of record will receive a video conference invite at the email registered in CM/ECF.
