ORDER: Attorney Tristan Gillespie's Motion for Leave to Appear Pro Hac Vice #5 is DENIED. LR-83(a)(1) requires counsel applying for pro hac vice admission to "associate[] with an attorney admitted to general practice before the bar of this Court, who will meaningfully participate in the preparation and trial of the case." While Mr. Gillespie's response to this Court's Order to Show Cause insinuates that an attorney admitted to practice before this Court will appear, no such attorney has made an appearance yet. Further, Mr. Gillespie's application for admission pro hac vice appears to be a modified application form of the one provided by this Court and conveniently omits the page indicating LR-83's requirement that pro hac vice admission requires association with counsel admitted before this Court. Accordingly, Mr. Gillespie has until 8/31/21 to properly apply for pro hac vice admission, which will include association with counsel admitted before this Court. Ordered by Judge Michael J. McShane. Attorneys specially admitted as government attorneys may only represent the United States, Indian treaty tribes, a state, or any agency of these sovereigns in the District of Oregon. Because Mr. Gillespie does not represent any government entity in this case, but rather a private party, and is not admitted to practice by the Oregon State Bar, he must be specially admitted pro hac vice pursuant to LR 83-3 to participate in this case as an attorney. IT IS THEREFORE ORDERED that Mr. Gillespie is ordered to apply for admission pro hac vice in this case or show cause why this case should not be dismissed as improperly filed by 8/31/2021.
