Filing 18 ** TEXT ONLY ORDER **On July 6, 2018, the plaintiffs, all pro se, filed a sprawling 39-page complaint in state court that the defendants removed to federal court, see Case No. 18-cv-582, dkt. 1, where it was carved into seven separate lawsuits, see, Case No. 18-cv-582 at dkt. 34; see also Case Nos. 19-cv-514 through 19-cv-519. In Cases 18-cv-582, 19-cv-515 and 19-cv-518, defendants recently filed motions to dismiss, and in 19-cv-519, defendants filed a motion to certify a constitutional question to Wisconsin's Attorney General. Plaintiffs have moved to extend their response deadlines to each of these motions. Plaintiffs' logistical problems are a direct and eminently predictable result of their tactical decision to group such a large number of pro se plaintiffs into so many disparate claims at the same time. Even so, the court will extend each of plaintiffs' response deadlines by 14 days. Hereafter, briefing on any dismissal or summary judgment motion shall allow 30 days to respond and 14 days to reply. The court does not intend to grant extensions of these deadlines, so the parties should plan accordingly. Signed by Magistrate Judge Stephen L. Crocker on 8/13/2019. (nln),(ps) |
