ORDER Plaintiff Myrdice Andrews filed this lawsuit against Portfolio Recovery Associates LLC, in the Circuit Court of Jefferson County, asserting that Portfolio violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, 15 U.S.C. 1692, et seq., by engaging in abusive debt collection practices. (Doc. 1-1 at 316). Portfolio removed the case to this court on the ground that the court has original jurisdiction based on the existence of a federal question, under 28 U.S.C. 1331. (Doc. 1). The court agrees that the complaint clearly asserts a federal question, giving this court original jurisdiction. (See doc. 1-1 at 316). However, it is unclear whether the complaint adequately alleges that Ms. Andrews has standing to bring her claims in federal court. Accordingly, the court ORDERS Portfolio to SHOW CAUSE, in writing, on or before, November 21, 2023, why the court should not remand this case for lack of subject matter jurisdiction.
