Filing 14 ORDER: Before the Court is the parties' Second Motion for Extension of Time to File an Answer to Plaintiff's Complaint (Doc. #13 ). The Motion was filed on September 2, 2021, Defendants' deadline to file an Answer. Therein, Defendants seek, for the second time, an "additional forty-five (45) days, up to and including, Monday, October 18, 2021," to respond to Plaintiff's Complaint. (Id.) The parties also ask that the Rule 16 Scheduling Conference set for October 12, 2021, "be stricken and continued until sometime after October 18, 2021." (Id.) The parties give no explanation as to why another 45 days are needed to file their responsive pleading, or why a proposed case management plan cannot be prepared and submitted in preparation for the October 12, 2021 Scheduling Conference. For lack of good cause showing, the Court will deny these requests. This case was initiated on March 16, 2021, and must proceed. See Fed.R.Civ.P. 1, 16(b)(2). Accordingly, IT IS ORDERED the Second Motion for Extension of Time to File an Answer (Doc. #13 ) is denied. Defendants shall file an Answer or otherwise respond to the Complaint within 14 days of this Order. IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that the Court's Order setting a Rule 16 Scheduling Conference (Doc. #11 ) is AFFIRMED. ORDERED by Judge Diane J Humetewa on 9/2/2021. This is a TEXT ENTRY ONLY.
