MINUTES IN CHAMBERS- ORDER TO SHOW CAUSE WHY THIS CASE SHOULD NOT BE REMANDED TO LOS ANGELES COUNTY SUPERIOR COURT by Judge Dolly M. Gee: On May 3, 2018, Plaintiff Francisco Pimentel filed a Complaint in Los Angeles CountySuperior Court against Defendant State Farm General Insurance Company, alleging the following state-law causes of action: (1) breach of contract, and (2) breach of the covenant of good faith and fair dealing. Removal Notice, Ex. A at 16 (Complaint) [Doc. # 1-1].1 On August 7, 2018, Defendant removed the action, invoking this Courts diversity jurisdiction under 28 U.S.C. section 1332(a). Removal Notice at 19 [Doc. # 1].(SEE DOCUMENT FOR FURTHER DETAILS). Accordingly, because the amount-in-controversy requirement has not been satisfied, Defendant is hereby ORDERED TO SHOW CAUSE why this action should not be remanded to Los Angeles County Superior Court for lack of subject matter jurisdiction. Defendant shall file a response by no later than August 16, 2018. Failure to timely file a satisfactory response by this deadline will result in the remand of this action.
