Thurston on 12/29/2023: (Text Only Entry) The Court is receipt of the parties' stipulation #5 to continue the briefing schedule and hearing date on the pending motion to remand #4 . The request to continue the briefing deadlines is GRANTED. Defendants must file and serve an opposition to the remand motion by January 11, 2024; Plaintiffs must file and serve any reply brief by January 22, 2024. Regarding the noticed hearing, the parties are directed to review the Court's standing order, #2 -2, which indicates that civil motions will be taken under submission on the papers pursuant to Local Rule 230(c) unless the court specifically orders otherwise. Therefore, the hearing on the motion to remand is VACATED. A written ruling will issue as soon as is practicable. As a result of the judicial resource shortage in this District, more than 100 motions remain under submission before the undersigned. It is therefore likely to be six or more months until the motion(s) in this matter is resolved. The Court reiterates that magistrate judge consent can alleviate the delay caused by the resource shortage. (Navarro, F)
