Date Filed Document Text
July 2, 2019 Opinion or Order Filing 10 ORDER: Appellant Gregory Scott has filed a motion for counsel in which he says only that litigating this appeal will be difficult. But this court recruits counsel when the subject of an appeal is complex and litigating the appeal is beyond the litigant's abilities. See Pruitt v. Mote, 503 F.3d 647 (7th Cir. 2007) (en banc). Accordingly IT IS ORDERED that Appellant Gregory Scott's motion for counsel is DENIED without prejudice to renewal in a motion that provides more information about why he is unable to proceed without counsel. IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that Scott's motion for transcripts is DENIED. This court's review of the proceedings in the district court suggests that Scott should be able to complete his required docketing statement, jurisdictional statement, and brief on appeal using the court's written decision on the summary-judgment motion. If Scott remains convinced that he needs certain material from the district court proceedings, he may renew his motion with a more detailed explanation.
