Filing 2 ORDER: In the present case, plaintiffs rely, in part, on diversity of citizenship under 28 U.S.C. 1332(d) for federal jurisdiction. Appellants are reminded that an LLCs citizenship is not defined by the state(s) in which it has been created and has its principal place of business, but rather by the citizenship of its members. See Hicklin Engineering L.C. v. R.J. Bartell, 439 F.3d 346, 347-48 (7th Cir. 2006) (citizenship of a limited liability company is that of its members). And, the citizenship of such unincorporated association must be traced through however many layers of members there may be. Meyerson v. Harrahs East Chicago Casino, 299, F.3d 616, 617 (7th Cir. 2002). DW [2] DW [2] [7077730] [20-1698] (AD) [Entered: 04/29/2020 11:47 AM] |
