ORDER re: Renewed motion to expedite oral argument. [ # 58 ] This is an appeal from an order denying Jaciel Cirrus Rojass petition for habeas corpus seeking release from immigration detention. Last month his counsel notified us that Cirrus Rojas was released from detention on February 26, 2026. That development raises the question whether this case is moot. IT IS THEREFORE ORDERED that the parties shall file, by May 27, 2026, supplemental briefs addressing Cirrus Rojass detention status. If he is no longer detained, the parties shall also address whether the case is moot because there is no longer a live controversy about the legality of his detention. See E.F.L. v. Prim , 986 F.3d 959, 963 (7th Cir. 2021) ([A] suit becomes moot when it is impossible for a court to grant any effectual relief whatever to the prevailing party. (quotation omitted)). In addition to any other matters that may bear on the question of mootness, the respondents should specifically address whether the government intends to re-detain Cirrus Rojas.
