ORDER: A preliminary review of the short record suggests this appeal may currently be untimely. Rule 4(a) of the Federal Rules of Appellate Procedure requires that a notice of appeal in a civil case be filed in the district court within 30 days of the entry of the judgment or order appealed. In this case judgment was entered on July 29, 2026, and the notice of appeal was filed on September 3, 2026, six days late. A review of the district courts docket suggests the appellant filed a motion for an extension of time to file a notice of appeal on September 3, 2026, see Fed. R. App. P. 4(a)(5), but the district court has not yet ruled on that motion. Accordingly, proceedings in this appeal are SUSPENDED pending the district court's resolution of the motion for extension of time. Further, an appellee shall file a status report within seven days of a ruling on the motion for extension of time, or on or shortly before October 5, 2026, if no order has yet issued. ORDER: A review of the short record reveals that this appeal involves more than one appellee represented by different counsel. Counsel for appellees are encouraged to file a joint brief and appendix or adopt parts of a co-appellee's brief. The parties are reminded that redundant and uncoordinated briefing will be stricken. See United States v. Torres, 170 F.3d 749 (7th Cir. 1999); United States v. Ashman, 964 F.2d 596 (7th Cir. 1992). [7553036] JXK [2] [7553036] [26-2822] (CFK) [Entered: 09/03/2026 04:11 PM]
