ORDER: Appellant shall file, on or before September 22, 2026, a brief memorandum stating why this appeal should not be dismissed for lack of jurisdiction. To the extent appellant believes this order mischaracterizes his existing filings, he may file, with the memorandum, a notarized statement or a declaration under penalty of perjury (in compliance with 28 U.S.C. 1746) setting forth the actual date he gave the notice of appeal to prison staff to file electronically. See Taylor v. Brown , 787 F.3d 851, 85859 (7th Cir. 2015). The memorandum may further address whether appellants supplemental affidavit may be construed also as a motion for extension of time to file a notice of appeal. See Fed. R. App. P. 4(a)(5); Parrish v. United States , 605 U.S. 376, 387 (2025); Bell v. McAdory , 820 F.3d 880, 884 (7th Cir. 2016). A motion for voluntary dismissal under Rule 42(b) of the Federal Rules of Appellate Procedure will satisfy this requirement. Briefing is SUSPENDED pending further court order. If appellant wishes to formally request an extension of time in which to file the notice of appeal, appellant should file an appropriate motion in the district court, not this court, as soon as possible. Appellants jurisdictional memorandum should include a discussion of the status of any such motion.
