May 16, 2023 Opinion or Order Filing 11 ORDER. Under 28 U.S.C. section 1915(e), courts are required to dismiss any action that is frivolous or that fails to state a claim upon which relief can be granted. Plaintiff Anjaknie Roundtree-McCrorey has filed a complaint alleging that she was unexpectedly ejected from a local shelter. Plaintiff accuses the shelter of "gender bias, retaliation" and "on-going harassment." ECF No. 1-1 at p. 1. Plaintiff's allegations are conclusory, as the complaint does not allege any facts demonstrating that the shelter engaged in differential treatment, harassment, or retaliation. Moreover, while the complaint appears to list two plaintiffs in the caption, it is signed only by Plaintiff Roundtree-McCrorey. Both the Federal and Local Rules of Civil Procedure require that all pleadings be signed. See Fed. R. Civ. P. 11(a) ("Every pleading... must be signed by at least one attorney of record in the attorneys name--or by a party personally if the party is unrepresented."); Rule 10, D. Conn. L. Civ. R. ("All pleadings must be prepared in conformity with the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure[.]). Although the caption lists "Isis Doe" as a plaintiff, the complaint fails to contain a signature from any individual by that name. The Clerk of Court kindly is instructed to terminate Isis Doe as a plaintiff. The court will permit Plaintiff to submit an amended complaint to fix the deficiencies identified in this order. Plaintiff shall submit the amended complaint on or before June 16, 2023, or else her case may be dismissed. Signed by Judge Omar A. Williams on 5/16/2023. (Mamillapalli, S.).
