ORDER - These matters are before the Court on Defendants motions to compel discovery responses, which are currently pending in the six cases identified above (see order). The above six cases were not randomly selected for the first discovery pool in the BELO litigation; therefore, formal discovery in those cases is stayed. Additionally, the discovery requests underlying the instant motions are broader than is now permitted in the first phase of discovery for a BELO case. Accordingly, the above-identified motions to compel are DENIED as MOOT. The Clerk is directed to enter this Order on the individual docket for each of the six cases only. ORDER - A Rule 16 conference was held in the Deepwater Horizon BELO cases on April 19, 2019. Based on the discussion during the conference and the nature of the BELO cases pending in this district, the Court finds it appropriate to adopt a quasi-bellwether approach to managing this litigation. The previously entered stay of formal discovery in the BELO cases is hereby LIFTED as to the 26 cases identified on Exhibit A. To the extent the parties agree on the information each side will produce, they must file a proposed joint stipulation describing the terms of their agreement on the master docket for the BELO cases only, Case No. 3:19cv963, by 5/21/2019. The deadline for completion of general causation discovery in the first pool cases is 9/18/2019. All individual BELO cases will be linked to the master docket. Lists of all BELO cases pending in this district as of April 19, 2019 are attached as Exhibits A, B, and C.
