April 1, 2024 Opinion or Order Filing 16 PAPERLESS ORDER SETTING DEADLINE FOR FILING DISMISSAL DOCUMENTS. The Parties have filed a Joint Notice of Settlement (DE #14 ). The Court congratulates the Parties on their amicable resolution of this matter. The Parties' request for 30 days to file closing documents is denied, as no good cause for such a delay is set forth in the Notice. The Parties are therefore directed to file appropriate closing documents within ten (10) days or by April 8, 2024. The Parties are further advised that their Notice of Settlement does not operate to stay this litigation, therefore until closing documents are filed the Parties must abide by all pretrial deadlines. Signed by Judge Donald M. Middlebrooks on 4/1/2024. (kid)

March 15, 2024 Opinion or Order Filing 11 PAPERLESS ORDER SETTING SCHEDULING CONFERENCE: A Scheduling Conference is set in this matter on April 1, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Standard Time in the Fort Lauderdale Division before United States Magistrate Judge Augustin-Birch, to take place via Zoom Video Teleconference. Any motions to modify the existing trial date should be filed two business days prior to the Scheduling Conference. Motions to modify the trial date must specifically state the basis for the request, including detailed factual support, and must provide a compelling reason. The parties are further advised that the Court is strongly disinclined to modify the trial date based upon the scheduling "tracks" contained within the Local Rules and/or based upon vague references to the complexities of the case. To log in through ZoomGov Meeting, use Meeting ID: 16096518849 and Passcode: 752819. All counsel shall appear by both audio and video. Because of the expedited nature of the conference, the parties are relieved of the conference report requirement of Local Rule 16.1(b). Any request to continue the Scheduling Conference must be made by filing a motion that must include at least three alternative dates on which all counsel and any pro se parties are available for a rescheduled Conference. Signed by Magistrate Judge Panayotta D. Augustin-Birch on 3/15/2024. (sk01)

February 27, 2024 Opinion or Order Filing 7 PAPERLESS ORDER granting in part #6 Motion for Extension of Time. Defendant requests an additional thirty days to respond to Plaintiff's Complaint. In support, Defendant vaguely asserts that counsel was "recently retained," with no indication of when, and that counsel requires "additional time to complete an evaluation, develop a strategy, and file an appropriate response." Motions for extensions of time must set forth good cause supported by specific facts. This motion does not sufficiently explain the need for the relief sought. Because it is unopposed I will grant a short extension, but future motions that lack factual support will be denied. Defendant shall respond to the Complaint on or by March 15, 2024. Signed by Judge Donald M. Middlebrooks on 2/27/2024. (kid)
