| Filing 28 PAPERLESS ORDER setting Zoom Settlement Conference set for 2/5/2025 at 10:30 AM in the Miami Division before Chief Magistrate Judge Jonathan Goodman. All parties will need to download the Zoom App for cell phone, tablet (iPad), and for those using a desktop or a laptop equipped with a webcam to click on the meeting link and install the plug-in when prompted. Then enter the Meeting ID and Password. Each participant needs to log in 10 minutes early, to make sure there are no glitches. The hearing will be conducted via ZOOM, as follows: Join ZoomGov Meeting https://www.zoomgov.com/j/1605476997?pwd=2DpL41qIUeC1GLECGmXbXvVYuLVpv3.1. Meeting ID: 160 547 6997. Passcode: 833515.This Zoom hearing is the digital equivalent of an actual, in-court hearing, so counsel are expected to dress as though they are in an actual federal courtroom.Counsel must meet (in person, on the phone, on FaceTime or on some other similar platform) with their clients before the mediation settlement conference to discuss measures that will ensure that both counsel and client have the ability to participate in a Zoom meeting by audio and video, with a stable internet connection. In particular, clients unfamiliar with Zoom should do an advance trial run at the location where they will participate in the settlement conference. If a client plans to be at home, and if there will be multiple users of wifi during the settlement conference -- for example, children remotely attending school then the demand on wifi may cause the client's internet connection to be unstable. Good troubleshooting tips include rebooting the wifi router before the Zoom session, locating the device near the router during the Zoom session, and minimizing the interference of other devices on the wifi bandwidth. See https://blog.zoom.us/enhancing-wifi-powered-zoom-meeting/. If there is any doubt about a client's ability to maintain a stable connection to Zoom during the settlement conference, then counsel shall make arrangements for the client to participate in the settlement conference at counsel's office. Persons granted remote access to proceedings are reminded of the general prohibition against photographing, recording, and rebroadcasting of court proceedings. Violation of these prohibitions may result in sanctions, including removal of court issued media credentials, restricted entry to future hearings, denial of entry to future hearings, or any other sanctions deemed necessary by the court. Signed by Chief Magistrate Judge Jonathan Goodman on 1/27/2025. (fbn) |
