June 13, 2025 Opinion or Order Filing 5 PAPERLESS ORDER Striking Emergency Designation. A "true emergency" "requires an immediate ruling because the Court would not be able to provide meaningful relief to a critical, non-routine issue after the expiration of seven days." S.D. Fla. L.R. 7.1(d)(1). Bona fide emergencies include the impending departure of a witness with no plans to return to the jurisdiction, the imminent destruction of a building or other property, the imminent deportation of an individual, the need for critical medical treatment, the threatened loss of civil rights, the immediate threatened loss of an entire business, and the imminent risk of being denied an essential service. See Companhia Energetica Potiguar v. Caterpillar Inc., 2016 WL 7469993, at *3 (S.D. Fla. Apr. 13, 2016). The circumstances described in Plaintiff's Motion for Remand do not warrant emergency treatment. Therefore, the designation of the Motion for Remand (ECF No. 4) as an emergency motion is STRICKEN. However, the Court will adjudicate the Motion on an expedited basis. Signed by Magistrate Judge Lauren Fleischer Louis on 6/13/2025. (mrg)
