PAPERLESS ORDER TO SHOW CAUSE. Plaintiff filed this lawsuit in state court on November 19, 2019, and Defendants removed the action on January 6, 2020. (See DE #1 ). "The notice of removal of a civil action or proceeding shall be filed within 30 days after the receipt by the defendant, through service or otherwise, of a copy of the initial pleading setting forth the claim for relief upon which such action or proceeding is based[.]" 28 U.S.C. 1446(b)(1). In their notice of removal, Defendants state that they were served on December 3, 2019 (DE #1 at 2), meaning their Notice of Removal should have been filed by January 2, 2020. Because the Notice was filed after that day, Defendants shall show cause by January 16, 2020 why this lawsuit should not be remanded to state court.
