PAPERLESS ORDER granting #9 Defendant's Unopposed Motion for Extension of Time. Plaintiffs originally filed this lawsuit in state court; and, Defendant subsequently removed it to this Court. (DE #1 ). On December 12, 2019, Plaintiffs filed a motion to remand this case to state court, meaning Defendant's response is due by December 26, 2019. (DE #8 ). In the present Motion, Defendant requests a two-week extension of that deadline. (DE #9 ). Defendant requests this extension because "due to the Christmas and New Year's holidays and related vacation and travel, the in-house attorneys for [Defendant] who are responsible for reviewing and approving [Defendant's] response... will only be working sporadically from December 21, 2019, to January 2, 2020." (Id. at 2). Under these circumstances, I find good cause to grant the requested extension; Defendant is directed to respond to the motion to remand by January 9, 2020, as requested. PAPERLESS ORDER denying #6 Parties' Agreed Motion for Extension of Time to Respond to Motion to Dismiss. Defendant filed a Motion to Dismiss Plaintiffs' Complaint on December 2, 2019 (DE #6 ), making Plaintiffs' response to the Motion due by December 16, 2019. In the present Motion, Plaintiffs request a thirty-day extension to respond to the Motion to Dismiss because the "Parties are currently engaging in settlement negotiations." (DE #6 at 2). Therefore, the Parties argue that "good cause exists for the requested extension because the Parties agree to the requested extension and the extension will provide the Parties additional time to attempt to negotiate a resolution of this matter without the need for further litigation." (Id.). I do not agree that these reasons establish good cause for the requested extension; therefore, the Motion is denied, and Plaintiffs' response remains due by December 16, 2019.
