The Court congratulates the Parties on reaching an amicable resolution of this case. The Parties shall file appropriate closing documents within 10 days of the Notice, or by December 17, 2020. The Court will retain jurisdiction to enforce the terms of the Parties' settlement agreement if requested to do so before closing the case. The Parties are advised that the Notice of Settlement does not stay this litigation, and therefore until closing documents are filed, the Court will expect compliance with all pretrial deadlines. November 24, 2020 Opinion or Order Filing 7 PAPERLESS ORDER granting #6 Defendant's Unopposed Motion for Extension of Time to File Response to Complaint. Defendant seeks a 14-day extension of the deadline to respond to Plaintiff's complaint from November 23, 2020 to December 7, 2020. Defendant's counsel represents that he was "just retained" and therefore requires additional time "to investigate this matter" and "to prepare a cogent response to the Complaint." (DE #6 para. 2, 4). Motions for extension of time may not be premised upon conclusory assertions or vague generalities; rather, they must set forth good cause supported by specific facts. Although Defendant's Motion fails to set forth specific facts by which the Court may evaluate whether good cause exists, I will grant the motion because the extension is relatively brief and it is unopposed. Accordingly, the deadline for Defendant to respond to the Complaint is extended to December 7, 2020. Future requests for extensions will be denied unless the moving party can establish that a particular deadline could not be met despite diligent efforts supported by particular facts. The Parties are further advised that no deadlines set forth in the ADA Title III Scheduling Order (DE #4 ) are modified as a result of this Order. Signed by Judge Donald M. Middlebrooks on 11/24/2020. (kal)
