PAPERLESS ORDER granting in part #12 Defendants' Unopposed Motion for Extension of Time. Defendants filed this motion requesting an extension of time to respond to the Complaint from November 2, 2021 until November 23, 2021. In support, Defendants state that they require additional time "to prepare their responses to the Complaint including investigating the claims therein and possible defenses." Defendants also note that one of their attorneys has not yet been admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida. Motions for extension of time must establish good cause supported by specific facts. Generalized references to counsel's preparation fall short of the good cause standard. Notwithstanding, because the requested relief is unopposed, I will grant the motion in part. Accordingly, Defendants shall respond to the Complaint on or by November 12, 2021. Lastly, I note that this motion was filed on the date Defendants' Answers were due. Future motions for extensions of time should be filed in advance of the deadline sought to be extended.
