PAPERLESS ORDER SETTING DEADLINE TO FILE CLOSING DOCUMENTS. The Parties notified the Court that they have settled this matter (DE #8 ), and the Court congratulates them on reaching an amicable resolution of this case. The Parties shall file a joint stipulation of dismissal within 10 days, or no later than December 23, 2022. The Parties are advised that the Notice of Settlement does not stay ongoing litigation, and until a joint stipulation is filed, the Court will expect compliance with all pretrial deadlines. However, in view of the pending settlement, and so as to avoid unnecessary expenditure of litigation costs, I will extend the deadline for Defendant to serve Plaintiff with a written response to any claimed ADA violations (DE #4 at 2) to December 23, 2022. PAPERLESS ORDER granting #6 Defendant's Motion for Extension of Time. Defendant seeks an extension of time to respond to the complaint from November 22, 2022 to December 12, 2022. Plaintiff does not oppose the Motion. In support, Defendant's counsel represents that he was only recently retained and requires more time to investigate the allegations made in the complaint. Motions for extension of time must set forth good cause supported by specific facts. Generalized references to counsel's retention and preparation fall short of the good cause standard. However the motion also indicates that the additional time will facilitate early settlement discussions. Because the Motion is unopposed, the requested extension is brief, and in the interest of encouraging an early and amicable resolution of this matter, I will grant the motion.
