Date Filed Document Text
October 30, 2023 Opinion or Order Filing 10 PAPERLESS ORDER granting #9 Defendant's Second Unopposed Motion for Extension of Time. Defendant seeks an extension of time to respond to the Complaint from October 27, 2023, to November 10, 2023. In support, Defendant represents that the Parties are in the process of discussing an amicable resolution to this matter and would like to avoid unnecessary additional litigation expenses. In the interest of encouraging the early resolution of this case, I will grant an extension. The deadline for Defendant to respond to the Complaint is now November 10, 2023. However, I note that this is the second extension I have granted, and I am disinclined to delay this filing deadline any further. The Parties can, of course, continue to engage in settlement discussions while this case moves forward in litigation should an amicable resolution not come to fruition by the answer deadline. Signed by Judge Donald M. Middlebrooks on 10/30/2023. (kal)
October 27, 2023 Filing 9 Defendant's MOTION for Extension of Time to File Response/Reply/Answer to Complaint by PEQ LWCC TM, LLC. (Robinson, Carrie)
October 19, 2023 Opinion or Order Filing 8 PAPERLESS ORDER granting #7 Defendant's Unopposed Motion for Extension of Time. Defendant seeks a three-week extension of time to respond to the complaint from October 6, 2023, to October 27, 2023. In support, Defendant represents that counsel will be out of the state on a pre-planned vacation beginning on October 6, 2023, the date the Answer was due. Defendant represents that counsel needs additional time upon her return to confer with Plaintiff, visit the subject premises, and to obtain the advice of a consultant. Motions for extension of time must set forth good cause supported by specific facts. Defendant's motion does not explain why counsel was unable to complete any of the cited tasks prior to the pre-planned vacation. However because the requested relief is unopposed and supported by some facts, I will grant the Motion. Defendant has until October 27, 2023 to respond to Plaintiff's Complaint. Signed by Judge Donald M. Middlebrooks on 10/19/2023. (kal)
