PAPERLESS ORDER. Plaintiffs Response to Defendants Motion to Dismiss was due on March 18, 2024. (DE #6 ). On April 1, 2024, I entered a Paperless Order requiring Plaintiff to show cause in writing why the motion should not be granted and why Plaintiff failed to respond by March 18, 2024. (DE 8). On April 8, 2024, Plaintiffs Counsel filed a Response to my Order to Show Cause, citing that the docket did not have his email address and only had an old mailing address. Plaintiffs counsel represents that he did not know that there was a pending motion to dismiss until he returned from his travels on April 5, 2024. Plaintiff still has not filed a Response to Defendants Motion to Dismiss and appears to imbed in its Response to the Order to Show Cause a request for an extension of time to do so. This is improper. Plaintiffs counsel is advised that if he wants relief from this court, he must file a motion and fully explain the basis for his request with particularity. See Fed. R. Civ. P. Rule 7(b)(1). All motions filed in this district must also comply with applicable Local Rules of this court, including the requirement of conferral and a memorandum of law. See S.D. Fla. Local Rule 7.1.
