Filing 7
PAPERLESS ORDER SETTING DEADLINE TO FILE CLOSING DOCUMENTS AND SUA SPONTE EXTENDING DEADLINE TO RESPOND TO THE COMPLAINT. Plaintiff notified the Court that the Parties have settled this matter (DE #6 ), and the Court congratulates them on reaching an early and amicable resolution of this case. The Parties request 45 days to file closing documents and for the Court to adjourn all deadlines in the meantime. That request is denied. No good cause for such a delay is set forth in the Notice, and I do not view a pending settlement as grounds to stay ongoing litigation. I will, however, afford the Parties some latitude since this case settled at an early stage. Closing documents shall be due by June 11, 2026. Moreover, given the posture, and so as not to waste attorney resources, I will also extend Defendant's deadline to Answer the Complaint to the same date. The Parties are advised that I will be strongly disinclined to extend these deadlines further absent compelling circumstances. Signed by Judge Donald M. Middlebrooks on 5/21/2026. (kid)

Filing 5
PAPERLESS ORDER granting in part #4 Unopposed Motion for Extension of Time. Defendant seeks an extension of time to respond to the complaint from April 28 to May 28, 2026. In support, Defendant represents that the additional time will allow the Parties to engage in early settlement discussions. Motions for extension of time must set forth good cause supported by specific facts. In the interest of encouraging an early and amicable resolution of this case I will grant an extension, however Defendant does not set forth good cause for the requested month long delay. The Parties can, of course, continue to engage in settlement discussions while this case moves forward in litigation. Therefore the motion is granted in part, and I will extend the deadline for Defendant to respond to the Complaint to May 20, 2026. Signed by Judge Donald M. Middlebrooks on 4/29/2026. (kid)
