Filing 6 MINUTE entry before the Honorable Manish S. Shah: Plaintiff Edward Abrams, now a prisoner at Menard Correctional Center, brings this pro se civil rights action, 42 U.S.C. 1983, alleging deficiencies in his mental health treatment while at Pontiac Correctional Center. Under 28 U.S.C. 1391(b), a civil rights action under Section 1983 may be brought only in: (1) a judicial district in which any defendant resides, if all defendants are residents of the State in which the district is located; (2) a judicial district in which a substantial part of the events or omissions giving rise to the claim occurred, or a substantial part of property that is the subject of the action is situated; or (3) if there is no district in which an action may otherwise be brought as provided in this section, any judicial district in which any defendant is subject to the court's personal jurisdiction with respect to such action. 28 U.S.C. 1391(b). The events giving rise to this lawsuit took place at Pontiac Correctional Center in Livingston County, which is located in the Central District of Illinois. See 28 U.S.C. 93(b). The only Defendant named in the caption of the complaint, Dr. Renzi, identified as the prison's mental health director, presumably can be found in that district. The same is true of other mental health professionals Plaintiff has listed as Defendants in Section II of the complaint. Venue therefore does not lie in this court, but rather in the Central District of Illinois. Accordingly, in the interest of justice and pursuant to 28 U.S.C. 1406(a), this Clerk shall transfer this case forthwith to the Central District of Illinois, Peoria Division. Notices mailed.
