TEXT ORDER entered by Judge James E. Shadid on 12/14/2021. Plaintiff recently filed a complaint and the Court has not yet conducted a merit review of the allegations #2 . Plaintiff has now filed a letter with the Court complaining about an individual who is not identified as a Defendant. Plaintiff also asks for appointment of counsel and says he is willing to drop this lawsuit in exchange for a specific sentence. First, Plaintiff must address any complaints about the actions of staff members through the grievance process at the jail. Second, Plaintiff has filed a civil rights lawsuit based on living conditions at the Peoria County Jail. If Plaintiff were to succeed a trial, the only relief available would be damages and perhaps injunctive relief. Plaintiff could not request a specific sentence, a change in sentence, or release from custody with this lawsuit. Finally, Plaintiff must not file letters with the Court. Instead, Plaintiff may file motions asking for specific relief. This prevents confusion over the basis of any filing. The Court will consider Plaintiff's previously filed motion for appointment of counsel when it considers the claims in the complaint.(SAG)

Plaintiff has subsequently submitted a letter with attached documentation that appears to be a request to appeal a criminal conviction in Peoria County #6 . The documentation is not related to the complaint filed in this case and the caption on the enclosed motion confirms it was intended for a Peoria County Court. It appears Plaintiff has mailed his submission to the wrong court. Therefore, the clerk is directed to strike the letter and return the letter and documentation to the Plaintiff #6 .(SAG)
