TEXT ORDER: The Plaintiff's Complaint #1 alleges that "Venue is appropriate in this District pursuant to 28 U.S.C. 1391 because Defendant does business in and is subject to personal jurisdiction in this District. Venue is also proper because a substantial part of the events or omissions giving rise to the claim occurred in or emanated from this District." The Complaint further alleges that the Plaintiff is domiciled in Kankakee County, Illinois. Civil Local Rule 40.1 provides the divisions of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of Illinois in which complaints and subsequent filings will be filed. See Civil LR 40.1(A)-(D). Kankakee County is in the Urbana Division. The Complaint does not state, as part of the statement of jurisdiction, the basis for filing in the Peoria Division. See Civil LR 40.1(F). Nor does the caption of the Complaint identify the division in which this case is pending. Id. at (E). In light of this, the Plaintiff is ordered to show cause in writing, by 2/21/2023, why this case should not be transferred to the Urbana Division of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of Illinois.
