TEXT ORDER: The Plaintiff's #1 Complaint alleges, "Venue is proper in the Central District of Illinois pursuant to Section 706(f)(3) of Title VII... because the unlawful employment discrimination giving rise to Plaintiff's claim occurred in this District." The Complaint further alleges that the Plaintiff was at all relevant times a resident of Kankakee County, Illinois and the Defendant's principal place of business is in Kankakee, Illinois. Civil Local Rule 40.1 provides the divisions of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of Illinois in which complaints and subsequent filings will be filed. See Civil LR 40.1(A)-(D). Kankakee County is in the Urbana Division of this Court. The Complaint does not state, as part of the statement of jurisdiction, the basis for filing in the Peoria Division, nor does the caption of the Complaint identify the division in which this case is pending. See Civil LR 40.1(E), (F). In light of this, the Plaintiff is ordered to show cause in writing, by 5/3/2024, why this case should not be transferred to the Urbana Division of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of Illinois Entered by Magistrate Judge Jonathan E. Hawley on 4/19/2024. (KZ)
