TEXT ORDER: The caption of the #1 Complaint identifies the Northern District of Illinois, Eastern Division. However, the Complaint alleges that venue is proper in this District "because Defendant conducts business in this district, and the events giving rise to this Complaint occurred within this district." The Complaint further alleges that the Defendant's principal place of business is located in Bradley, Illinois (an allegation insufficient for purposes of determining the citizenship of a LLC, see Wise v. Wachovia Securities, LLC, 450 F.3d 265, 267 (7th Cir. 2006)). Bradley, Illinois is within Kankakee County, Illinois which is within the Urbana Division of this Court. See Civil LR 40.1(D). The Complaint does NOT state, as part of the statement of jurisdiction, the basis for filing in the Peoria Division of the Central District of Illinois. See Civil LR 40.1(F). In light of all this, the Plaintiff is ordered to show cause in writing, by 8/12/2024, why this case should not be transferred to the Urbana Division of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of Illinois.
