TEXT ORDER: Defendant #8 moves for an extension of time to respond to Plaintiff's complaint. Under Fed. R. Civ. P. 6(b)(1)(A), courts may, for good cause, extend time when a request is made before the original deadline expires. But when, as here, the original deadline has expired, Civil Local Rule 6.1 instructs courts to deny the motion unless the denial would cause "substantial injustice." Defendant observes that it owed a response by May 28, 2026, but provides no reason why it could not move for an extension before that deadline elapsed. Nonetheless, because the motion is unopposed and because Defendant recently retained new counsel, the Court will allow the extension. Defendant's #8 motion is GRANTED.
