February 6, 2020 Set/Reset Deadlines/Hearings: Plaintiff may pay the filing fee or submit another motion to proceed in forma pauperis by March 6, 2020. (RL, ilcd)
February 6, 2020 Opinion or Order TEXT ORDER entered by Chief Judge Sara Darrow on February 6, 2020. Plaintiff's #2 motion to proceed in forma pauperis explains only that he receives $194 per month, which he spends on food. He attaches an affidavit from a woman who states she provides housing to him. He does not otherwise explain how he pays for his clothing, medical expenses, transportation, phone, and other living expenses. Without more information from which the Court can assess Plaintiff's financial status, the Court cannot conclude Plaintiff is unable to pay the costs of the proceedings. Plaintiff's #2 motion to proceed in forma pauperis is DENIED. Plaintiff may pay the filing fee or submit another motion to proceed in forma pauperis by March 6, 2020. Because Plaintiff has been previously warned about failing to comply with court orders regarding his financial status, see 19-cv-4164-SLD-JEH Johnson v. State of Illinois, failure to pay the filing fee or file a properly completed motion to proceed in forma pauperis will result in the case's dismissal. See Downs v. Westphal, 78 F.3d 1252, 1257 (7th Cir. 1996) ("[P]ro se litigants are not entitled to a general dispensation from the rules of procedure or court-imposed deadlines." (quotation marks omitted)). (HR, ilcd)
