Filing 7 ORDER: Plaintiff's application for leave to proceed in forma pauperis #3 is granted. The Court orders the trust fund officer at the Stateville Correctional Center to deduct $4.02 from Plaintiff's account for payment to the Clerk as an initial partial payment of the filing fee, and to continue making monthly deductions in accordance with this order. The Clerk is directed to send a copy of this order electronically to the Supervisor of the Inmate Trust Fund Accounts at the Stateville Correctional Center. Summonses, however, shall not issue at this time as Plaintiff's motion for attorney representation #4 is granted. The Court requests that Heather Becker, Laner Muchin, Ltd., 515 North State Street, Suite 2800, Chicago, Illinois 60654, hbecker@lanermuchin.com, assist Plaintiff with his claim based on the alleged denial of psychotropic medication, in accordance with counsel's trial bar obligations under the District Court's Local Rule 83.37 (N.D. Ill.). Filing 6 LETTER from DeVontae King. Envelope postmarked 8/16/2018 (cc, ) |
Filing 5 ORDER: Plaintiff's application for leave to proceed in forma pauperis #3 is denied without prejudice. By October 5, 2018, Plaintiff must pay the $400 statutory filing fee or file a properly supported renewed application for leave to proceed in forma pauperis. Even if Plaintiff resolves his fee status, however, this case will not necessarily proceed as by this same date, he must also show cause (in other words, provide a written explanation) why this case should not be dismissed without prejudice for failure to exhaust administrative remedies. If Plaintiff does not comply, this case will be summarily dismissed. The Court also acknowledges Plaintiff's allegation that he has not received the psychotropic medications that he has taken "for years" since his arrival at the Stateville Correctional Center's Northern Reception and Classification Center on July 9, 2018, which has led to "self-inflicted harm... without intention to do so." The Clerk is directed to forward a copy of this order to Dr. Christian Okezie (Stateville's Acting Medical Director), Stateville Correctional Center, 16830 South Broadway Street, P.O. Box 112, Joliet, Illinois 60434. The Court requests that Dr. Okezie take whatever action he deems appropriate. The Clerk is further directed to send Plaintiff a blank application to proceed in forma pauperis, along with a copy of this order. Signed by the Honorable Elaine E. Bucklo on 8/6/2018. Mailed notice.
