December 12, 2018 Filing 14 MINUTE entry before the Honorable Edmond E. Chang: Status hearing held. Peter Cangelosi, owner of Defendant River Alliance, Inc., appeared. The Court explained the requirement that corporations must act through counsel in federal-court litigation; non-lawyer individuals may not represent a corporation. Cangelosi stated that that he will file a motion for recruitment of counsel. The Court expressed its skepticism for recruiting counsel for a corporation, but did not rule out the possibility. In the meantime, however, Defendant's response to the motion for entry of judgment under Rule 54(b) is due 12/26/2018, whether or not a recruitment motion is filed. Plaintiffs' reply due 01/02/2019. Plaintiffs made a verbal request to dismiss Count 1 of the Complaint (the reports were produced). The request is granted. Count 1 of the Complaint is dismissed without prejudice.
