April 29, 2019 Opinion or Order Filing 15 ORDER: The Court is in receipt of Plaintiff's application for leave to proceed in forma pauperis #13 and her motion for attorney representation #14 . Plaintiff's IFP application is denied, as she has already paid the filing fee. Her motion for attorney representation is also denied. "There is no right to court-recruited counsel in civil litigation," but the Court has discretion to recruit an attorney to assist a pro se litigant. Olson v. Morgan, 750 F.3d 708, 711 (7th Cir. 2014). In considering such a request, the Court must ask: "(1) has the indigent plaintiff made a reasonable attempt to obtain counsel or been effectively precluded from doing so; and if so, (2) given the difficulty of the case, does the plaintiff appear competent to litigate it [herself]?" Pruitt v. Mote, 503 F.3d 647, 654 (7th Cir. 2007) (en banc). Here, Plaintiff indicates that she has contacted an attorney for assistance, to no avail. However, she provides no other information about why she needs the assistance of pro bono counsel. Rather, her motion indicates that she is a high school graduate. Furthermore, her complaint is clear and easy to follow, and alleges a fairly straightforward set of facts, which Plaintiff personally experienced. At this early stage of litigation, the Court sees no need to recruit counsel. Accordingly, Plaintiff's motion #14 is denied without prejudice. Signed by the Honorable John Z. Lee on 4/29/2019. Mailed notice. (ew, )
