May 10, 2019 Filing 7 MINUTE entry before the Honorable Edmond E. Chang: Petitioner Juan Alvarado-Gonzalez's motion to proceed in forma pauperis #6 is denied. The financial affidavit reveals that he had a current balance of $103.35 in his prison trust account when he filed the application. The filing fee for a habeas petition is only $5. Becuase Petitioner is a prisoner for whom the State provides the necessities of life, he can pay the $5 fee. See, e.g., Longbehn v. United States, 169 F.3d 1082, 1083-84 (7th Cir. 1999) (citing Lumbert v. Illinois Dep't of Corr., 827 F.2d 257, 260 (7th Cir. 1987)). Petitioner may pay by check or money order made payable to Clerk, United States District Court. The deadline to pay the fee is 06/05/2019. To track the case only (no appearance is required), a status hearing is set for 06/14/2019 at 8:30 a.m. Petitioner is instructed to file all future papers concerning this action with the Clerk of Court in care of the Prisoner Correspondent.
