| Filing 4 MINUTE entry before the Honorable Manish S. Shah: The Court received documentation from the Plaintiff and opened this matter as a new civil case. The documentation is captioned as an "order to show cause for a preliminary injunction & temporary restraining order" #1 and attaches a seven-page affidavit [1-1]. Plaintiff describes issues with his mail at the federal facility where he is currently incarcerated (in Louisiana). Plaintiff also references a number of actions he has taken to obtain information about other cases in this district. CM/ECF shows that Plaintiff was named as a criminal defendant in case no. 95CR00510-18 and that he attempted to vacate his sentence in case nos. 01CV8331 and 12CV5631. The submission from Plaintiff is not a new case, but appears to be a request related to Plaintiff's earlier cases. Plaintiff should use the caption of the case in which he seeks relief, and file motions in that case number (rather than initiate a new civil rights lawsuit).
