Filing 7 ORDER: Natasha Yvette Belcher has filed a pro se lawsuit against Janet Wukas Ahern, who she says works for the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, and Frank Vonch, who she does not identify. Ms. Belcher has also filed a motion to proceed in forma pauperis, that is, without prepaying the filing fee. The problem with her complaint is that is states only bare-bones conclusions (e.g., the defendants committed "racketeering, wanton conduct, fraud, tort, harassment (PROVEN)"), without any factual allegations describing what Ms. Belcher contends they did and how it harmed her and violated her legal rights. Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 8(a)(2) requires a short and plain statement of the plaintiff's claim showing that she is entitled to relief, and Ms. Belcher's complaint does not come anywhere near doing this. The Court therefore dismisses the complaint, but will give Ms. Belcher a chance to cure the defects by filing an amended complaint. If Ms. Belcher does not file an amended complaint by 8/24/2020 properly alleging a claim over which the Court has jurisdiction, the Court will dismiss the case. Signed by the Honorable Matthew F. Kennelly on 8/7/2020. Mailed notice. (bg, ) |
Filing 6 ORDER Fifth Amended General Order 20-0012 IN RE: CORONAVIRUS COVID-19 PUBLIC EMERGENCY Signed by the Chief Judge Rebecca R. Pallmeyer on July 10, 2020. No motions may be noticed for in-person presentment; the presiding judge will notify parties of the need, if any, for a hearing by electronic means or in-court proceeding. See attached Order. Signed by the Honorable Rebecca R. Pallmeyer on 7/10/2020: Mailed notice. (Clerk10, Docket) |
