| Filing 13 MINUTE entry before the Honorable Steven C. Seeger: On June 23, 2020, Defendant removed this case to federal court on the basis of federal question jurisdiction. After remand, Plaintiff filed an amended complaint and dropped the Title VII claim, the only federal claim in this lawsuit. (Dckt. No. #7 ) Only state law claims remain. Plaintiff then filed a motion to remand. (Dckt. No. #9 ) This Court ordered Defendant to respond to the motion to remand by July 13, 2020. (Dckt. No. #11 ) The deadline came and went, but Defendant filed nothing. The deadline passed more than two weeks ago. Under 28 U.S.C. 1367(c)(3), this Court declines to exercise supplemental jurisdiction over the remaining state law claims. See Carnegie-Mellon Univ. v. Cahill, 484 U.S. 343, 357 (1988); Leister v. Dovetail, 546 F.3d 875, 882 (7th Cir. 2008). The motion to remand is granted. This case is hereby remanded to the Circuit Court of Cook County forthwith. Mailed notice. (jjr, ) |
