SUMMONS Issued as to Defendant Greatway Transportation, Inc. (cm, ) |
Filing 3 EXHIBIT by Plaintiff National Casualty Company Jurisdictional Addendum regarding complaint, #1 (Hughes, Jon) |
Filing 2 MINUTE entry before the Honorable Gary Feinerman:On the court's own motion, Plaintiff is ordered to show cause in writing by 10/20/2020 why this case should not be dismissed for want of subject matter jurisdiction. Although the complaint premises subject matter jurisdiction under the diversity statute, 28 U.S.C. 1332, it does not properly allege the citizenship of Defendant E-Transport Group LLC, which is a limited liability company (LLC). To properly allege the citizenship of an LLC, the party invoking federal jurisdiction must identify the members of the LLC and the citizenship of each member. See Thomas v. Guardsmark, LLC, 487 F.3d 531, 534 (7th Cir. 2007). Plaintiff may discharge this order by filing a Jurisdictional Addendum that properly alleges the citizenship of Defendant E-Transport Group LLC. If Plaintiff fails to do by 10/20/2020, this case will be dismissed for lack of subject matter jurisdiction. Status hearing set for 10/26/2020 at 9:00 a.m. Attorneys/Parties should appear for the hearing by calling the Toll-Free Number: (877) 336-1828, Access Code: 4082461.
