MINUTE entry before the Honorable Virginia M. Kendall. Plaintiff Gloria Swanson moves for this case to be assigned to a different judge on the grounds that this judge is biased against her. In support of this contention she cites a previous case, Swanson v. Baker & McKenzie, et al., 16 CV 7890, in which she was a litigant before this Court. In that case, this Court entered summary judgment against her. She appealed that decision largely on the basis that this Court's opinion constituted defamation against her. The Court of Appeals affirmed the entry of summary judgment on the merits. Swanson v. Baker & McKenzie, et al., No. 17-1069 (7th Cir. Apr. 25, 2017). The Court of Appeals also explained that this Court had not defamed her but had instead attempted to warn her that "continuation of [her] campaign of litigation will lead to sanctions." Id. The Court of Appeals also admonished Ms. Swanson to "understand that further litigation of this kind will be penalized by the district court." Id. That Order makes clear that this Court did not engage in misconduct of any kind during previous proceedings involving Ms. Swanson. Therefore, Motion for Substitution of Judge #7 lacks merit and is denied. Mailed notice (lk, )
