Filing 9 ORDER: The Court dismisses Plaintiff's complaint #7 without prejudice for failure to state a claim. If Plaintiff wants to proceed further, he must submit an amended complaint that states a claim against proper defendants, stemming from the events alleged in the original complaint. Failure to submit an amended complaint by April 21, 2021, will result in dismissal of this lawsuit for failure to state a claim. Plaintiff also is advised that he must promptly submit a change-of-address notification if he is transferred to another facility or released.1 If Plaintiff fails to keep the Court informed of his address, this action will be subject to dismissal for failure to comply with a Court order and for failure to prosecute. Plaintiff's motion for attorney representation #4 , which reflects that he has contacted just two lawyers, is denied because two contacts does not show a reasonable effort to obtain counsel before requesting assistance from the Court. See Pruitt v. Mote, 503 F.3d 647, 654-55 (7th Cir. 2007) (en banc); Russell v. Bukowski, 608 Fed. App'x 426, 428 (7th Cir. 2015) ("[B]efore a district court is required to consider recruiting counsel to assist a litigant in a civil case, the litigant must make a reasonable attempt to secure counsel for himself."). The Clerk of Court is directed to send Plaintiff an amended complaint form, a blank USM-285 form, and instructions along with a copy of this order. Signed by the Honorable Virginia M. Kendall on 3/31/2021. Mailed notice (lma, ) |
