| Filing 9 MINUTE entry before the Honorable Edmond E. Chang: On review of the status report, R. 8, no defense counsel has filed an appearance, but the Plaintiff has been in contact with counsel who say they are representing the Defendants. The Plaintiff agreed to a request to 09/20/2021 to return the waiver of summons. That date would ordinarily be around the answer deadline, given that the waivers were sent on 07/19/2021; the "return" date of the waiver does not set the answer deadline when service is waived. In any event, if the waiver is not returned by 09/20/2021, then the Plaintiff shall start efforts to effectual service (and the Defendants might very well be liable for expenses under Civil Rule 4(d)(2)). The tracking status hearing of 09/03/2021 is reset to 10/15/2021 at 8:30 a.m., but to track the case only (no appearance is required, the case will not be called). Instead, the parties shall file the joint initial status by 10/08/2021 (with the defense formally in the case) or the Plaintiff shall file a status report by that same deadline. | Filing 6 MINUTE entry before the Honorable Edmond E.
